Hemsila around - Cycling
Temporarily not possible to do as a round trip as a bridge along the south eastern part of Hemsila is damaged.
Experience the beautiful Hemsila with this cycling trip. Take your bike on a trip alongside one of Norway's prettiest rivers!
Images
Great roundtrip, but expect some climbing in the start. E-bike would be an advantage. If you choose to start your ride from Ulsåk/Torset you will be rewarded with a great view of the waterfall Hydnefossen along Hødnsvegen. Continue straight to the toll station and make the climb towards Krosstølane where you will pass old summer farms and idyllic landscape. From Grønlio you follow the rough gravel road along the river back to the toll station and if you need a break the dam Eikredammen is a beautiful spot to enjoy lunch with a view. Here you will also be able to find facilities with opportunities for a toilet break, a large parking space and the lovely waters contained by the dam. Take a walk across the dam and if you are lucky, get to see it empty out into the ongoing river on the underside of the dam.
Experience beautiful Norwegian nature and old idyllic farms on this biking trip!

Turn-by-turn directions
The map shows the ride from Langeset, but it is also possible to start from Ulsåk or the town center and cycle via Torsetvegen and then onto Hødnsvegen (sign to Markegård cabins) to Langeset.
From Langeset, follow the dirt road through the toll road and further uphill. After a considerable climb, follow the signs to the left to Krosstølane where you will pass old summer farms and idyllic landscape. You then cycle along the mountainside on a dirt road, then a tractor road which turns into a dirt road again. Further ahead, the road begins to descend towards Robru and the last part down to Hemsila is on asphalt. Just before the bridge over the river, turn left onto the tractor road that follows Hemsila upwards again. Eventually the tractor road becomes more like a path, before it becomes a tractor road again around Eikredammen, then back to gravel road for the last stretch back to the starting point at Langeset.
Equipment
Parts of the round trip is on trail, so a bike for that purpose is recommended.
Directions
Drive east towards Ulsåk. Continue on RV52 until you see a sign for «Avfallsmottak” or “Torsetstølane”. Cross the bridge to the right and take a left to the “avfallsmottak” (renovation facilities). Park before the toll station. Alternatively you can park at Kiwi and ride your bike from there towards Torset. Take a right at Moen Camping and take the gravel road down to the left by the sign “Markegård”.
Parking
Parking will be available at Langeset avfallsmottak or if you chose to take a longer route, at Kiwi Hemsedal.
