Green hike

Venåshøvda

Venåshøvda IH

A nice walk through the forest for the whole family with great views at the top.

Venåshøvda sti IH

Venåshøvda 773 - 988 m

There are two different ways to reach the top of Venåshøvda.

The most suitable for families with kids is if you park at the parking lot in Lio and start the hike on the gravel road and continue on a path through the forest. The view at the top is georgeous. This is an easy hike, 200 m vertical and about 2.5 km one way. The trip is estimated to 2 hours.

Option number two is a bit steeper and shorter. Park along the main road and follow "Kongevegen" the first bit, after that, the marked trail will take you to the top.

This is an easy and suitable hike for families with children and the route can be adapted to fit the group. See route description for details.

The top is called Venåshøvda, is 988 meters above sea level, and you have a good view of both Tuv and the northern part of Mørkedalen - the valley in which you started the hike.

Please note! There are grazing animals in the area, so remember to close gates and keep your dog on a leash.

Author's advice

If you are fit, it is recommended to do the hike as a round trip.

Turn-by-turn directions

The hike starts on a dirt road that winds through farm landscapes. After 800-900 m on the dirt road, you will find the starting point of the path in the corner of a field.

Once you have reached the top you can choose to retrace your steps or continue the hike as a round trip. Note that continuing straight ahead may require a bit more as it is steeper down the south side than the north side. The round trip goes past older storehouses and through a lovely birch forest. When the trail reaches the old Kings Road, turn right and follow it back to the parking.

Please note! There are grazing animals in the area, so remember to close gates and keep your dog on a leash.
